Seems like everyone is really hitting their stride with the juicing and we couldn’t be happier to see this! I began juicing a little over 3 years ago and haven’t stopped since. I wanted to take this moment to share some of my juicing tips for when you encounter certain challenges…
Here we go!
“My juice is too bitter, grassy, just plain gross tasting”
Sweeten that thing up! Fruit juice can make a great base for many vegetable juices – if your juice is bitter or too strong, try adding another apple or pear, some pineapple or watermelon. Don’t be shy, fruits are good for you too…
“It takes sooo many vegetables to make a juice”
Let’s talk about High Yield. When it comes to yield, all fruits and vegetables are NOT created equal. Here’s a list of the vegetables I’ve found to result in the most amount of juice:
“I’m bored with the same flavors”
Spice it up! Herbs and spices are your friends… I love to include fresh herbs in my juices: Cilantro, Parsley, Mint, Basil. They taste great and are high in nutrients! Spices can do wonders for your juice too: Cayenne Pepper and Chili Powder really bring the heat.
“I need something comforting”
Technically, it’s not juice, but if you have a powerful blender, try making your own almond or cashew milk. Add a dash of cinnamon and you have a very comforting evening drink!
– Soak raw nuts overnight
– Blend nuts with water in a 1:2 ratio (2x as much water)
– Blend WELL
– Strain liquid through cheesecloth or nut milk bag
– Add spices and ENJOY
*will last 5-7 days in fridge
